ADULT LEADER TREKS

Stop. Close your eyes, and imagine the sounds of a high adventure Scouting experience, but without Scouts. Ahhh, sounds nice, right? What if you could go on a trek, but also have some additional comforts available that you've earned as an adult leader? Now we've got your attention....

 

Swamp Base offers this amazing experience annually to registered leaders! Participants need to be 21 years old to join one of the available "provisional" crews. Provisional crews are comprised of leaders from across the country that are joined together to form a crew.

Here's how to know if an Adult Leader Trek is right for you:
1. You love high adventure treks!
2. You enjoy meeting other Scout leaders and making new friends.
3. You want to explore what Swamp Base is all about so you can share it with your Scouts back home.
4. You've been wanting to go to Swamp Base, but don't have a crew to join you.
5. You want a trek that's just for you and your adult friends.

2026 TREK DATES: October 9th, 10th and 12th, 2026. Treks begin with a required Arrival Day aka "orientation day," with the trek in the swamp being the next 5 days/4 nights.

2027 REGISTRATION OPENS: Opens on August 19, 2026. Call 337-235-8552 to register.

2027 TREK DATES: October 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th, 2027. Treks begin with a required Arrival Day aka "orientation day," with the trek in the swamp being the next 5 days/4 nights.

TREK OVERVIEW:

• Treks take place during October... fall weather!

• If you've attended before, you'll experience the swamp in new way! Water levels are generally lower and temperatures slightly cooler during October vs. our summer treks.

• Meet other adult leaders from across the country and share in the Scouting fellowship and fun.

• Paddle an average of 15.4 miles a day. Yes, the full 61.6-miles!

• Join your crew’s fully trained Trek Guide for the entirety of the journey

• Adult Trek only accommodations include lodging in cabins for nights 3 and 4 in the swamp. So nice! Nights 1 and 2 will be primitive camping. See the Trek 1 Program [here]

• Enjoy a sunset dinner cruise on Night 1 in the swamp. Fancy!

• All meals, gear, transportation (to and from the trail), and lodging covered with the cost of the trek.

• Only $845/person! 

• Please note that a $300 deposit (which counts to the overall fee) is due when reserving your crew spot, and that all payments to Swamp Base are non-refundable.
