A SCOUT IS REVERENT

ree

A Scout is reverent toward God. They are faithful in their religious duties. They respect the beliefs of others and the world around them. One of the many ways units display reverence during their trek is by reciting the Swamp Base Grace at every meal. Saying grace as a unit brings Scouts closer together and generates a greater respect for the wonders of the Atchafalaya Swamp.

The Chaplain's Aide is responsible for ensuring that the Swamp Base Grace is recited at every meal as well as leading each evening's "Roses and Thorns" activity. We recommend that everyone participating on a Swamp Base trek memorize the Swamp Base grace before their arrival. We have even created a Nalgene water bottle that you can pre-order and bring on your trek to help you remember the grace at mealtimes.

You can get your own Swamp Base Grace Nalgene here: https://www.swampbaseoutfitters.org/product-page/swamp-base-grace-nalgene
